Ya gotta~loosen~up!
What's this? Updating once a week again? Probably shouldn't jinx it...

But anyway, there's some exciting new stuff going down. I'll be heading back to school again in August, so perhaps a certain vigor has returned to me? At any rate, the story's at a fun part, so I'd best get crackin' on the next page.

I can honestly see myself saying this + stuff

What Is Your Battle Cry?

Yea, verily: Who is that, sprinting through the candy store! It is Rftigermode, hands clutching a mighty sword! And with a cruel grunt, her voice cometh:

"I'm going to blow a bullet-hole in you the size of God!!!"

Now that that's out of the way, I'm messing around with the upcoming story arc, as well as getting ready to close out the character poll. Work is pretty busy, too. I was hoping summer would be the time for me to get things done, but I have more to do now than I did when the semester was underway. :/ Well, what can you do...

Unexplained absences explained for your convenience
Well, the semester has been over and done with since the 8th, and the house has been made livable since around that time, too. I don't really have the space I need to work, but that's something I'm working around.

If the readers are still out there, I'm still working through a few things, and I don't know how soon it'll be, but I haven't abandoned this comic. Thank you for your continued patience.

Stuff + FWA report
FWA wasn't bad at all, I must say. I'm glad I could have that weekend to spend with my buddies T-Boz and Chris. Despite being a furry, T isn't really that much into the fandom, so she was glad I was there as sort of a buffer, as Chris was running off here, there and everywhere during our stay. And also, it was the first time I've ever danced to impress a girl. Apparently I have moves. <3

But ANYWAY, we had drinks and breakfast with an Uncle Kage, who heads Anthrocon and is apparently some sort of god in the fandom. We simply shrugged when we found out, although others acted like it was something legends were made of. 2 the Ranting Gryphon also did an hour show. I'm not much for ranting comedians, so I only found him to be mildly amusing.

But the highlight of the thing? Clearly the fursuiters, most of whom kicked ass.

Pictures~! )

So, yeah. Good times all around, even if I was sick for the following week. Now for the comic-related bit. Eh... I hadn't really intended to get off track yet AGAIN, but when school time rolls around, well, clearly that comes first, unless I can somehow get a BFA solely by drawing this comic. I rather like the gryphons, but it'll be a bit of a transition after this episode. I wonder how that'll work out..?

CHARA MEME~~~
1. What is your character's name?
Kedamono - main protagonist of my comic "The Pride of Life"

2. What is your character's name in another language?
Spanish & Italian: Bestio

3. How old is he/she?
16.

4. What is your character's race/species?
Born a Vulfpacht - sort of a cross between wolves and mountain lions. Now a hybrid superbeast (Vulfpacht/Minotaur)

5. Do they have a crush?
Nope.

6. Do they have many friends?
He considers Gaur, the guardian of Yggdrasil, to be his friend. He'll get more along the way.

7. What planet is your character from?
Bestias, the planet of beast-people

8. Does your character like to eat?
Who doesn't?

9. What's his/her favorite food?
He ADORES papaya.

10. What's his/her favorite drink?
Papaya juice.

11. Is your character annoying?
To those around him, but the the readers seem to get a kick out of his antics.

13. Is your character loved?
The majority of the readers love him. So do I.

14. Is your character hated?
I don't know.

15. Is she/he emo/goth?
I imagine he's the exact opposite.

16. Is she/he straight, bisexual, or gay?
It's not important to the story. You'd have to ask him.

17. Is she/he a virgin?
See #16

18. Name 3 hobbies
Gallavanting, tomfoolering, practicing his superpowers

19. Is your character normal?
As normal as the next guy.

20. Is your character attractive?
Aside from being physically cute, I think his personality is such where he's easily related to. He starts out as a small guy, but even with a muscled new form and superpowers, he still remains a bit of a scaredy-dog.

21. How does your character handle emotions?
Keda's easily excitable, but he rarely acts out of anger.

22. Does your character have other forms?
Normal vulfpacht > Superbeast. I can't say anymore at this point. X3

23. Does your character overreact?
Sometimes.

24. Is your character a criminal?
No!

25. Does your character go to school?
No, although he gets schooled on a regular basis...

26. What's his/her IQ?
There is no such measurement in PoL's world.

27. Does your character have a disease/curse?
Stupidity, if that counts.

28. Is your character dead?
He's got about 484 years to go.

29. Does your character have a family?
He has a dad, but whether that'll be discussed later in the story, I haven't decided.

30. Has he/she encountered any tragic times in life?
Absolutely! You'll have to read about them on your own, though. ;3

31. What's the best time in your character's life?
Finally getting a piece of the World Tree's fruit.

32. If you could name 1 friend, which would you relate to your character?
None of my friends are nearly as excitable/dumb.

33. Is your character single?
Yes.

34. Has he/she developed any relationships?
Besides a student/mentor one with Gaur, none of any importance.

35. Does he/she have an element?
Can't say just yet.

36. Do you role-play your character?
I outgrew RPing. Sorry.

37. Do you write about your character?
Of course! He has his own comic, after all.

38. Does your character have a bad temper at times?
No, not really.

39. Does your character get depressed?
He might. He's only human.

40. What's your characters favorite animal?
Turkeys. A turkey saved his life once.

41. Does your character have any fears?
Getting his ass handed to him.

42. Does your character have any weaknesses?
Yes. Keddy-boy tends to leap before he thinks, so he ends up making a lot of unnecessary trouble for himself and others.

43. Does your character look up to anyone?
Gaur, though he'll never admit it.

44. Does your character like music?
Maybe?

45. What's your character's favorite type of music?
You'd have to ask him.

46. Is he/she impatient?
Nah, I don't think so. It took him seven years of trying before he obtained the fruit of Yggdrasil.

47. What's something funny about your character?
He's purple with an orange mane.

48. Name 5 nicknames
Keda, Keddy, that dumbass, um...

49. Does your character curse?
No.

50. This test is over, what does your character have to say?
I'm not wearing any pants!

Happy New Year!
Oh! Oh! It's 2007 now! Every year I live to see is a personal victory for me. Anyway, I'd like to think that I've gotten a little better in my artwork, and I'd like to think I'd be a little more motivated to work on this and other comics. Well, I recently found what I was capable of in terms of coloring digitally, and have since held myself to a higher standard.

The year in review... Ehhhh... Not a very productive one as far as PoL goes. We seem to only turn out two books a year, what with all the impromptu breaks and all. I don't know how things will work out once I return to school, especially since I plan to take a part-time job and an extracurricular drawing class. I'll do my best to update in a timely manner, but my education will always come first. That's the reality of it.

Anyway, here's to another year of PoL! *raises glass of Sunny D*

The Episode in Review #4
Why, oh why did this episode take as long as it did to finish? Five days shy of a full year is unacceptable. I think... largely not knowing what would happen next was a big part of it. So, I've taken the necessary measures for Episode 05 and scripted 11 pages in advance. What about the other 15 to 18? Well, I'll figure that out once page 11 is drawn. :P All in all, I'm happy with it, though. The Familiars (AKA Sanji-gryph and Kuro-gryph, but they're officially known as Familiar #1 and #2, respectively) seem to have stolen the show. They were so well received that they'll be appearing again in the next episode. It's good when we can all have fun together.

I think I should take this opportunity to mention that this episode was exceptionally violent, and future eps will not have this amount AT ALL. I wondered several times about Hyde's dismemberment and how to show it, or even have him go through it at all. Usually in comics or animation, if a character loses a body part, they pick themselves up and continue with the conflict as though they only lost a bit of hair. I'm sorry, but I like to be more realistic about things. I think a strong reaction, whether it's a bloodcurdling scream or vomitting, in Hyde's case, in that sort of situation, makes the character seem more human. It also makes it apparent that no one in that world is safe, not even the pretty ones.

When I originally made the outline for the first three episodes --well, the first two and a half-- the Zapatos hadn't even been thought of. Really, they were just a result of me saying 'hey, wouldn't it be cool if..?' I feel very lucky that it worked out, somehow. But then, the Zapatos tangent isn't over yet, is it? XD The next episode returns to Kedamono and his usual antics, so hooray for that. Episode 06 is the one I'm actually looking forward to the most. We'll be hopping back onto the Othello trail at that time, and introducing a new main character or two into the mix while we're at it.

Better get cracking on 05. I hate drawing covers, for the record. @_@

S-K-O-O-L
UGH.

Where does the time go? And how can I get more of it? Right now, I feel as though there aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I'd like to do. It's a little tough at the moment. Homework has crept upon me like some sort of higher education leopard, and I can't seem to find the time to work on the comic. Whenever I get ready to settle into it, I remember the sketches due in three days, or the response paper due in two, or the readings be discussed the next day. That, on top of having to deal with this car of mine (which now, in addition to needing the windshield replace, requires three new tires), I feel like I've been spread too thinly, which makes me a little sad, but largely frustrated.

Well, the good news is I've found there's an anthropomorphic club on campus, so it's a good opportunity to usher in a few new readers. ;3 What's more, I'm guaranteed to enjoy it. I just hope everyone won't just be drawing fox people and/or neko-jin. Or worse yet, Sonic fan characters. DX Enough is too much.

Not that it matters. I plan to blow that place out of the water with my collection of anthro and anthro-related media I've amassed. I'd like to show "Kaze: Ghost Warrior" at some point. Beautiful stuff.

Man, I'm tired
I fleshed out the pencils for pages 27-29 in one sitting. I'm spent. I promise Hyde's suffering will end soon, and you can interpret that anyway you'd like. >:3 The tight pencils for the next page are at about 50% completion, so I'll do my best to have that Thursday update fresh for your consumption.
